Shortages of medicines and essential goods in North Korea, less than 290 foreign nationals left in Pyongyang
Russia's envoy to North Korea has said that the country is facing a severe shortage of medicines and essentials in the wake of the Corona virus infection. North Korea has claimed that it has no infection cases and has closed its borders as part of efforts to prevent infection. Diplomats and foreign nationals are constantly leaving the country.
Two UN employees reportedly left the country in the month of March. Both worked for the World Food Program.
The Russian embassy said on Facebook on Thursday that 38 foreign nationals leaving North Korea on March 18 completed a two-week detachment in the border city of Dandong, adjacent to China, and said foreigners would continue to be "evacuated".
The embassy said, "Those from the Korean capital are understandable." Not everyone can tolerate restrictions, which are unexpectedly very harsh. There is a severe shortage of essential goods including medicines and there are also problems in getting health facilities. ”The embassy also said that Pyongyang has fewer than 290 foreign nationals.
